Atlantic Machinery, Inc. was founded in 1980 to provide a highly specialized sales and service capability for the sewer and street cleaning industry. The company's goal has always been to achieve its success through providing superior equipment and backing it with exemplary service and parts support. Atlantic Machinery is committed to strong customer relationships and mutual trust and as a result most of our customers have multiple pieces of equipment purchased from us. Throughout its 32 year history, Atlantic Machinery has maintained its focus as a specialist in sewer and street equipment. While sales initially were mostly municipal and contractor based, they are today almost equally divided between municipal/non profit/contractor and Federal/Military.
The dealership's original territory was Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC. As the company grew, the states of Delaware and West Virginia were added. The 1990’s success in providing significant quantities of equipment to local Federal and Military installations led to obtaining General Services Administration (GSA) and Department of Defense (DLA) contracts for several manufacturers within the sewer and street cleaning industry. As a result of these contracts, the company has delivered equipment throughout the world for over 10 years. See: Federal Government
In 2010, Atlantic machinery obtained a competitively-bid Contract with the National Joint Powers Alliance (now known as SOURCEWELL) – the country’s largest cooperative purchasing agency. Atlantic administers this contract and works with each manufacturer’s authorized dealer throughout the USA. All equipment manufactured by Vac-con, Ravo, and Mathieu is available on this contract. Atlantic Machinery is and always has been a family-owned company. Pictured above are Trevor Gardner, Jr. And Trevor “T” Gardner, III - principal stockholders.
Trevor Gardner, Jr. founded the company in 1980 after spending 7 years working for two other equipment companies. His goal has always been to represent the best manufacturers and take care of our customers through the best parts support and the best service. Mr. Gardner has always served as President and has provided the guidance and administration for the company since its inception. He still remains active in the company on a daily basis.
Mr. Gardner received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from American University in 1966. He is an active member of both the local and national chapters of the American Public Works Association as well as the Silver Spring, Maryland Chamber of Commerce.
Asssisting in the office are Belinda Conway and Mary Sommer. Mary is in charge of Billing and Accounts Receivable and Belinda is in charge of Accounts Payable.
Mary Varela joined Atlantic in 2017 as our new comptroller and office manager. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland and previously spent 13 years with a foundation company which relocated out of the area.
